The Te Waikoropupu Springs are located in Golden Bay, on New Zealand's South Island. The springs are known for the clarity of the water, and the volume of water discharged. The springs are spiritually significant to the Māori people.

Experience the thrill of catching your own food. Come find a magical spot on Lake Anatoki to cast your line and land your lunch. Watch salmon back-flip out of the water, listen as they splash on the surface, keep your eye out for the big one, feel the thrill as the salmon teases your line with nibbles just before you reel it in and land it with delight.

Discover the stunning Ngarua Caves with its extensive and breathtaking variety of stalagmites and stalactites, also featuring an excellent skeletal display of the extinct moa. Located in the Takaka Hill and open daily throughout summer offering guided cave tours hourly from 10am-4pm. Bookings essential in the winter months (June-Sept).

Located 2 kms east of Takaka, the Labyrinth Rocks Park features 2 hectares of unique landscape with native trees and a natural rock maze through a series of karst limestone canyons.

A short walk through lush native bush leads to the cascading Wainui Falls, the largest and most accessible falls in Golden Bay/Mohua - there's a long swing bridge for children to enjoy as well. It's one of our best short walks.

The ultimate in geological eye-candy around these parts are the phytokarst features of Rawhiti Cave, a 15-minute drive from Takaka (reached via Motupipi, turning right into Glenview Rd, then left into Packard Rd and following the signs). The rugged two-hour-return walk (steep in places; dangerous in the wet) may well leave you speechless (although we managed 'monster', 'fangs' and even 'Sarlacc').

The track follows the line of a tramline that operated between the early 1880s and 1905, and was used to take timber from the Takaka Valley down to Waitapu wharf. It provides access to some excellent swimming holes in the Takaka River as well as to rock climbing areas.
